The Procedure

Get Your Natural Look Back

Even with careful planning and execution, changes can occur after breast implant surgery that lead a patient to consider revision. The most common reasons are implant deflation, a desire to change implant size or type (implant exchange), capsular contracture, implant malposition, double-bubble deformity, and combinations of these.

Sometimes a patient was not an ideal candidate for augmentation at the time of her first surgery and would have been better served by a lift, alone or with an implant. At Carlin Plastic Surgery, every patient is evaluated as an individual — no two reasons for revision are the same — and Dr. Carlin's goal is to choose both the right implant and the right procedure for your goal.

Common Questions

Breast Revision, Answered

What are the common reasons for revision?

Implant deflation, a desire to change the size or type of implant, capsular contracture, implant malposition, and double-bubble deformity — often in combination.

How is my case evaluated?

Individually. No two reasons for breast revision are the same, so Dr. Carlin evaluates your situation and chooses the right implant and the right surgical approach — which may include a lift — to reach your goal.

Where is the surgery performed?

In our own private surgery center at the practice in West Columbia — not a hospital. The same team you meet at your consultation cares for you on the day of surgery and through recovery.

Do you accept insurance?

No. Carlin Plastic Surgery does not accept insurance. We accept cash, check, Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, and CareCredit financing.

What are your office hours?

Monday through Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The office is closed on Friday. After hours, surgical patients can reach Dr. Carlin through our answering service. Directions and contact details.

What happens at a first visit?

Every consultation is with Dr. Carlin himself. What to expect as a new patient, and what our patients say about the experience.
