The Procedure

The Windows To The Soul

Aesthetic eyelid surgery has the effect of making you look more rested, refreshed and alert. Because healing is gradual, it takes several weeks to see an accurate picture of the result, and incisions fade over a number of months until they are barely visible.

Removal of the fat that causes puffiness and bags is permanent, and these conditions generally will not recur. The skin continues to age, but most patients are happy with their appearance for many years following eyelid surgery.

PLASTIC SURGERY

Refreshing the eyes can radically improve the whole face. Upper and lower eyelid surgery is one of the most requested procedures at the practice — often on its own, and often alongside a facelift or brow lift.

Common Questions

Eyelid Surgery, Answered

What can eyelid surgery correct?

Heavy or hooded upper lids, puffiness and bags below the eyes, and excess eyelid skin. Dr. Carlin will assess whether an upper, lower, or combined procedure best fits your goals.

How long do the results last?

Removal of the fat that causes puffiness is permanent. The skin continues to age over time, but most patients are happy with their appearance for many years, and some choose to make further refinements later.

Where is the surgery performed?

In our own private surgery center at the practice in West Columbia — not a hospital. The same team you meet at your consultation cares for you on the day of surgery and through recovery.

Do you accept insurance?

No. Carlin Plastic Surgery does not accept insurance. We accept cash, check, Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, and CareCredit financing.

What are your office hours?

Monday through Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The office is closed on Friday. After hours, surgical patients can reach Dr. Carlin through our answering service. Directions and contact details.

What happens at a first visit?

Every consultation is with Dr. Carlin himself. What to expect as a new patient, and what our patients say about the experience.
